Next Summer @ the Music Shack

We’ve got three great shows ready for next summer although we’ll have to hold the dates for a while yet.

Loren Kate from South Australia really impressed the crowd at Fairbridge Festival this year and we’re pleased that Loren has agreed to appear here in December.

Finally good news from Canada – The Bombadils will be returning for another show here. Those that saw them last time will be delighted – a slight change in membership this time. Sarah and Luke are there of course, but the pocket rocket, Anh, has moved on. Her place will be taken by a cello player and the new sound is great.

More news on each event as they get closer.

Gordie Tentrees

Gordie Tentrees – this Canadian farm boy, golden glove boxer, school teacher, turned folk artist has released his 6th record in North America, UK, Australia and Europe performing 200 concerts each year.  Gordie will be appearing with Jaxon Haldane.

Gordie and Jaxon will be appearing at the Music Shack on Wednesday 13th April 2016

In the three years since his last release North Country Heart, Tentrees wrote more than 30 songs for his new album, mercifully letting most of them die before hitting the tape. Says Tentrees, “I was selective. I wanted to make an album I knew I  could make, if I invested all my time and energy.”Gordie Tentrees

New album keepers include “Somebody’s Child”, written after watching the bombs go off at the Boston Marathon, all while wondering if his wife had
crossed the finish line, and “Tired of Time”, the heartbreaking story of a man who dies of brain cancer years before his prime, while watching his family
grow. Themes of despair turn to courage in “Wheel Girl”, an ode to northern hero Jessica Frotten who went from accident victim to wheelchair athlete.
Tentrees’ attraction with the downtrodden human continues in “Broken Hero”, a collection of vivid shots of everyday heroes, and the story -driven hit “Love in Ink”, co – written with childhood friend Oliver Greer. Love rings true in ‘Keno City” and “Wrong Town”, and album highlight “Dead Beat Dad” may be the
first recorded confession of a struggling father urging on his male mates to make a difference.
It should be a great night with Gordie and Jaxon singing without amplification in the lounge room due to the uncertainties of the weather.
As usual, because we’re indoors, tickets are very limited and it’s first in best seated. There will be no door sales.
